AFI Frontman Asks Fans To Jumpstart Feature Film (A Top Story)

.
On Thursday AFI Frontman Asks Fans To Jumpstart Feature Film was a top story. Here is the recap: (Radio.com) AFI frontman Davey Havok and a pair of filmmakers are seeking fan support to the tune of $20,000 to jump-start his first feature film, The Violent.

According to Havok's Indigogo page, The Violent is set in the mid 90s amongst a tight-knit group of punks and skins. The film follows a teenager in his final year of high school as he is led down a path of crime, and must ultimately reconcile his own violent nature, or be consumed by it.

Havok, who will act in the film will also co-produce with Foo Fighters' "White Limo" video director, Kelly Jones, and Clint Carney, visual artist and singer for System Syn. This isn't Havok's first acting gig. For a few weeks in 2011, the singer played the lead role on Green Day's American Idiot Broadway play.

"I love the script," professes Havok in a press release. "I was telling Clint how much I liked it and he offered me a chance to be a part of the film which I was very happy to take. The Violent really appealed to me because it was so genuine. I think it represents a culture that existed in the 90s that people are vastly unaware of. If they weren't part of that culture I think it's a great look into that world, into the world of punks and skins, as well as representing a broader look into youth culture."

"This is the story of violence," explains Carney. "Not just physical violence but emotional violence and the trauma that you endure just growing up and coming into your own, and just realizing who you are and what your place is in the world." - more on this story
