The George Harrison Tree planted near Los Angeles' Griffith Observatory in 2004 was recently infested by beetles-yes, beetles, b-e-e-t-l-e-s-causing it to die.

According to the Los Angeles Times, trees in Griffith Park have occasionally been destroyed by bark beetles and ladybug beetles. The paper also reported that the pine tree, which grew to be over 10-feet tall, will be replaced, but no timeframe has been given as of yet.

As of right now, fans of The Beatles visiting the observatory will be able to check out the commemorative plaque, which still remains in the spot where the tree used to be. - more on this story
