Megadeth Guitarist Pays Tribute to Randy Rhoads
. Young will be one of a number of guitar greats performing at Randy Rhoads Remembered, a tribute concert to be held at The Observatory Orange County as part of NAMM 2014. And Young says that he is humbled by the chance to help keep Randy's music alive. "Right now, I know each performing guitarist is pouring over Randy's licks in awe, preparing to leave it all there on the stage in Santa Ana," Young said, "and somewhere, Randy is smiling because just as in life, he continues to inspire and heal us all with the purest of art forms... music." Young was fortunate to see Rhoads perform twice with Ozzy Osbourne - once on the Blizzard of Ozz tour and once on the Diary Of A Madman run. "As great as he played on record, by the second tour with Ozzy, he was composing and improvising lines that were breathtakingly melodic and outside the box," Young said. "When we lost Randy, we lost one of the purest beacons in music history." Hosted by the Brian Tichy and Joe Sutton, the creators of Bonzo Bash tribute to Led Zeppelin drummer John Bonham, the show is being presented in conjunction with Randy Rhoads' brother Kelle Rhoads, the Rhoads family, former Randy student Brent Woods and bass legend Rudy Sarzo. In addition to Young, guitarists confirmed to join in on the night include Doug Aldrich (Whitesnake), Nuno Bettencourt (Extreme, Rihanna), Phil Demmel (Machine Head), Brad Gillis (Night Ranger, Ozzy Osbourne),Tracii Guns (L.A. Guns), Kiko Loureiro (Angra), Rowan Robertson (Dio), Uli Jon Roth (Scorpions, Electric Sun), Ron "Bumblefoot" Thal (Guns N' Roses) and Brent Woods (The Moby Dicks, Vince Neil). more on this story Gibson.com is an official news provider for antiMusic.com.
