Tupac Inspired Musical Coming To Broadway

01/09/2014
.
(Radio.com) Broadway has been home to shows that were inspired by the music from everyone from Billy Joel, to ABBA, to Earth Wind and Fire (it was called Hot Feet and it closed in less than two months), but this year marks the first time the music of a single hip-hop legend is honored with its own musical.

A new musical inspired by the lyrics of Tupac called Holler If Ya Hear Me will officially have its Broadway premiere on June 19 at the Palace Theatre, according to The Hollywood Reporter. As the publication points out, the Palace is one of Broadway's largest venues.

Though the cast has yet to be announced, the show is set to begin previews on May 26. While Tupac himself is not a character in the musical, his music will be woven throughout the fictional plot of the show, which will be produced by the late rapper's mother Afeni Shakur. more on this story
