Chvrches Take On Arctic Monkeys' 'Do I Wanna Know?'

. (Radio.com) Renowned for the band's unexpected cover takes on well-known songs, Scottish new wave outfit Chvrches recently saddled up on Australian radio station triple j's "Like a Version" show to offer a unique imagining of Arctic Monkeys' recent smash hit, "Do I Wanna Know?"

Where the original song is a dark-lit stomp of attitude and angular guitar riffs, Chvrches' version is rife with warm synthesizers chords, a sparse drum machine beat and the delicate vocals of singer Lauren Mayberry.

"When something's so strong melodically like that, we just grab the top line�and try to re-harmonize it, see if anything pops out," explained Chvrches member Martin Doherty to the radio DJs when asked the process behind the band's cover arrangements. "Sorry Arctic Monkeys fans if you really, really love their version. It's kind of a departure. We thought it was about fun, and that's what this kind of thing is all about." Check it out here.
