Singled Out: Van Canto Share The Story Behind Badaboom
. "Badaboom" was the last song written for Dawn Of The Brave. All bandmembers had the feeling that this would be the perfect one as the first single, not only because of the catchy song title, but also because of the dense arrangement and the performance of the lead singers. From a composer's view, "Badaboom" is not a single track at all. It has a quite "progressive" arrangement with a post-chorus part that appears first after more than 2 minutes but then acts to be the chorus of the song. The first chorus then acts as a pre-chorus after the second verse. Bastian and I have done the same with a song we wrote for our former band 'Jester's Funeral' in 1999, more than 14 years ago. This one was called "Where dark deep waters flow" and somehow I remembered that one when composing Badaboom. Especially when Sly had the crazy idea about the video where we act as superheroes returning the instruments that had been stolen before to famous metal bands, we knew that it's gonna be a really good working single. Hearing is believing. Now that you know the story behind the song, check out the video (see how many metal heroes you can spot) here and learn more about the album right here!
