Monkees Charles Manson Audition Rumor Addressed By Mickey Dolenz
. Mickey Dolenz of the Monkees learned that the hard way, as he recently revealed on "Gilbert Gottfried's Amazing Colossal Podcast." Dolenz recalled being a guest on radio legend Rodney Bingenheimer's show Rodney on the ROQ on Los Angeles station KROQ (a CBS Radio station). "I just made a joke: 'Everybody auditioned for the Monkees, Stephen Stills, Paul Williams and Charlie Manson!'" he said. "And everybody took it as gospel, and now it's an urban myth!"
