Jack White Praised For Preserving Paramount's Legacy

(The Blues) Revenant Records boss Dean Blackwood has hailed Jack White as the only person who could have saved hallowed label Paramount's legacy. The pair, along with a small number of passionate colleagues, assembled almost everything that's left of the company's output in two limited-edition box sets.

Only 5000 editions of each were made, and they retail for $400 each. But it cost almost exactly as much to research, design and create the boxes and their contents, meaning they're unlikely to turn a profit.

Blackwood tells JSOnline: "We basically have to sell out to break even. Jack, obviously, is the key. He was willing to say, 'These things need to exist, so it's okay if it takes us 10 years to make our money back. It's hard to imagine anyone else would do something like this."

The first box is hand-crafted from wood while the other is art-deco era aluminum. Each contains over 800 remastered tracks, six vinyl discs, newspaper ads, a book, artist guide and digital app. Read more here.
