Rick Springfield Leads All-Star Benefit Concert
. Rick Springfield has announced that he is hosting a concert benefit dubbed "Rock For Ruben" that will benefit his good friend and guitar tech Ruben Velasco. Since KISS is Ruben Velasco's all time favorite band, Springfield's set will be followed by an all-star set of KISS songs and will be joined by Kenny Aronoff (Jon Bon Jovi, Elton John, Bob Dylan, Rod Stewart, Alanis Morissette, The Rolling Stones, Lynyrd Skynyrd, a lot more), Bruce Kulick (KISS/Grand Funk Railroad) and James Lomenzo (John Fogerty, Megadeth). Rick's set will also include a special appearance from John 5 (Rob Zombie) with more special guests to be announced and organizers state that the show will close with a "huge surprise". The concert will take place on August 20, 2014 at the House of Blues on the Sunset Strip in Los Angeles and is being staged to raise money for Ruben's medical expenses in his battle against cancer. "Ruben Velasco, our friend and guitar tech extraordinaire is fighting for his life," says Springfield. "He has been diagnosed with fourth stage cancer and has a lot of medical expenses coming up in his fight. Any and all donations would be loved and welcomed." The event will also include some exclusive VIP opportunities including a private pre-concert dinner with Rick and only 18 guests. For further details on the "Rock for Ruben" benefit concert, go here.
