(Gibson) Kurt Cobain's childhood is up for sale by his mother, Wendy O'Connor, who has set an asking price of $500,000 for the house, located in Aberdeen, Washington.

The mother and father of the late Nirvana frontman bought the house in 1969, when Cobain was just two years old. The singer lived there until his parents separated, when he was nine, and returned to the house to live with his mother during part of his teen years.

"We've decided to sell the home to create a legacy for Kurt, and yes, there are some mixed feelings since we have all loved the home and it carries so many great memories," said his sister, Kim Cobain.

"But our family has moved on from Washington, and [we] feel it's time to let go of the home."

The family did say they would welcome a partnership to convert the home into a museum. The house is located near the Kurt Cobain Riverfront Park, which is dedicated to the singer's memory. more on this story
