(Gibson) The house where John Lennon lived until he was five years old sold at auction Tuesday (Oct. 29) for $770,250. As reported by ABC News, the Liverpool home was bought by an American who wished to remain anonymous.

In a prepared statement, the unidentified seller said the home has changed little since Lennon lived there. "I have made sure original features have been preserved so that they reflect the 1960s period when the Beatles wowed the world with their rock and roll music," the seller said. "The main structure of the house and the features, such as the original Victorian sliding sash windows, are as they were when John Lennon lived here with his parents and his grandparents from 1940 onwards."

The auction took place at The Cavern Club, located just three miles from the residence. The Beatles famously performed at the venue 292 times between 1961 and 1963. more on this story
