Jennifer Nettles Plays The Other Woman In 'That Girl' Video

(Radio.com) "That Girl," the debut solo single from Sugarland's Jennifer Nettles, tells the tale of being 'the other woman.' In particular, Nettles has called the song a response to "Jolene," the Dolly Parton classic about a woman pleading to another to not to "steal [her] man."

Now Nettles has released a video for "That Girl." And who is that playing the role of the "other woman"? Filmed in New York, the video for "That Girl" brings the song to life. Nettles is shown looking glamorous with her man, only to find out that she's actually the woman on the side. She eventually comes to meet the man's 'real' squeeze, and she deliberates how to tell her she's not the only female in the situation.

The idea behind the song, Nettles explained to Radio.com during an interview this summer, is of a woman "who had been tricked, bamboozled if you will," by a man she had been seeing. That's because the man didn't let on that "he had someone else in the picture. But when she finds that out, she says, 'Oh no, I'm gonna call her and tell her that you're being that guy, because I don't want to be that girl with that stigma.'"

Nettles wrote "That Girl" with Butch Walker. And as she told Radio.com, it was Walker who brought the idea over to Nettles. When writing the song together with Walker, Nettles said something clicked.
