American Idol Dumping Their Judges?
. Jackson had this to say about leaving the show, "Yo! Yo! Yo! To put all of the speculation to rest, after 12 years of judging on 'American Idol' I have decided it is time to leave after this season." "I am very proud of how we forever changed television and the music industry. It's been a life changing opportunity but I am looking forward to focusing on my company Dream Merchant 21 and other business ventures." And it appears that Randy might not be the only judge leaving the show, all four may be on the chopping block. Radio.com reports that a new report indicates that after this season of American Idol viewers can expect a clean slate the show will reportedly let all four judges go, including Randy Jackson who has been with the show since its launch. According to The Wrap, the high profile judges that came with sizable salaries, have not given the ratings boost the network was looking for. The network paid big bucks to land Mariah Carey (reportedly $18 million for one season), Nicki Minaj (reportedly $12 million) and Keith Urban (reportedly between $3-5 million), but hasn't seen a big ratings turn around to justify the high price tags. Ratings are down 22% this season and hit their lowest ratings ever the week of April 29, 2013. Also reportedly getting the boot is longtime show producer Nigel Lythgoe, who helped launch Idol. The reality singing competition has been steadily bested by newcomer The Voice which is not only beating Idol's ratings but stole the show's nomination for Outstanding Reality Competition at the Emmys. more on this story Radio.com is an official news provider for antiMusic.com.
