(Radio.com) Though it's no hologram, Tupac will return to the stage (well, sort of) in a new musical showcasing his music. Holler If Ya Hear Me, the non-biographical show produced by the late rapper's mother Afeni Shakur, reportedly aims to make its Broadway premiere in the 2013-14 season.

The director told Broadway.com that while Tupac himself is not a character in the musical, his music will be woven throughout the fictional plot of the show.

"Tupac was a prophet and I want everyone to see that," Director Kenny Leon (of Fences fame) said in the interview. "[Holler If Ya Hear Me] is a present day musical using all of Tupac's music, but Tupac is not a character in the musical."

The theater outlet reports that the show focuses on the story of two childhood friends growing up in a present day Midwestern inner-city, as they deal with overcoming the struggles of daily life to face their hopes and dreams.

The story was written by associate Fences director Todd Kreidler, with choreography by Wicked's Wayne Cilento. Casting and theater details are yet to be revealed. more on this story
