(Radio.com) Katy Perry's new perfume, Killer Queen, is more than a fragrance. It's a look at where she is in her life right now. The singer told WWD that her third fragrance, available in August, is more mature than her previous two fragrances2010's Purr and the following year's Meowand will evoke the direction of her upcoming album, which is her first since her divorce from Russell Brand.

"It's for someone sophisticated, who wants a little edge and can wear it all day, and still wants that sexiness," she explained of the scent of Killer Queen.

Named after the Queen song from 1974, Perry told the mag that the song's lyrics really spoke to her when she was a teenager and still inspire her today.

"Freddie Mercury painted the lyrics of this woman who I wanted to be," Perry explained. "She seemed very powerful, and she captivated a room when she walked in. I named my company Killer Queen after those lyrics.

"I feel like, after all this time, it was appropriate to use that name in association with something I did. I feel like I'm falling, finally, into that woman Freddie painted." more on this story
