They were still reeling from a series of fall-outs that saw the frontman hospitalised with a broken collarbone, his return to drinking and drug-taking, and his bandmates inviting other vocalists to take his place. But he believes their Japanese trip, made soon after the earthquake and tsunami that devastated much of the nation, put Aerosmith back on the road to success. Tyler tells Rolling Stone: "We were all such a bad place that we didn't realise our self-worth. It took going to Japan for the band to realise its own magic again.
