Don't Call Zedd A DJ
. While now all the decisions made are his own, he relishes the lessons he has learned while being in a band. He's not saying being in a band is better than being your own boss, it's just different. "You learn why your idea is better than the other guys' idea," he said. "It doesn't help to say, 'Because I think it's cooler,' you have to think about it and find an argument. 'This is better because it makes sense in this context.' You really learn to think about what you do instead of just doing something and thinking, 'Wow that actually sounds cool. Done.' By just going through that school you judge music differently and you think about every step you do more. I think you just think about details more." At the end of the day, though, he said he never puts his name on something he's not happy with. And, he bucks the title of "DJ." "I'm not a DJ," he said. "I'm a producer. But the main thing is I'm a musician. That means I can do anything at any time, and make a piano album if I wanted to." more. Radio.com is an official news provider for antiMusic.com.
