Micky Dolenz Looks Back On New Album

. (CBS Local) On Micky Dolenz's aptly-named new album, Remember, the Monkees singer/drummer revisits the song that landed him in the TV quartet, Chuck Berry's "Johnny B. Goode."

There's also a Beatles song Dolenz first heard from the Fab Four themselves during a session at Abbey Road Studios ("Good Morning Good Morning"), a Harry Nilsson track written right before his eyes ("Remember"), and a massive pop hit originally intended for the Monkees (The Archies' "Sugar, Sugar"), which now sounds almost sinister.

Dolenz easily strolls through his memories for the album, but it took "badgering" from producer David Harris to get Dolenz to do a deep-dive into his personal history. The result is a scrapbook of covers and reworked versions of Monkees songs, like "I'm A Believer" made to match Dolenz's country roots. But the album isn't quite the same without hearing Dolenz's stories behind the song choices. He shares a few in our sit-down session with him. Watch here.
