Green Day Broadway Musical Closing Down

. (Gibson) Green Day's American Idiot musical production will close on Broadway on April 24.

NME.com reports that while the show has run for 421 performances, attendance and ticket sales had dropped appreciably once Green Day's Billie Joe Armstrong left the production. Armstrong will return to the show for the final three weeks beginning April 5.

After American Idiot closes on Broadway, the production that won two Tony awards in 2010 and a Grammy in 2011 will become a touring production. Producers will hold open casting calls in Toronto, Boston and Chicago. more on this story
