Ozzy Osbourne Collaborator Phil Soussan Releases New Album
. Phil has played with the likes of rock legends such as Ozzy Osbourne, Vince Neil, Billy Idol, Steve Lukather, Richie Kotzen and with an early version of "The Firm", formed by legendary Led Zeppelin guitar player Jimmy Page. "No Protection" is the culmination of 3 years' work, recording, producing and mixing a collection of 13 songs that were all written over a period of about a year. The songs are a reflection of the idea that in life, time waits for no one. "What is unique about this album is that I felt the inspiration to record an album on which I play virtually all of the instruments and perform all of the vocals." Phil said. "I had always wanted to play all the instruments on a record, ever since I saw McCartney do just that; it was a very tough and tricky thing to do but I have become a better musician for it! I am very proud of this CD" Stylistically it varies from hard edged pop rock to acoustic guitar storyteller ballad, really focused in songwriting, the songs perhaps more connected than "Vibrate"; that album having been more of a compilation of songs from across several eras. Some comparisons have been made to Tom Petty and John Mayer, to the Beatles and even a bit of U2. Outside of the immediate music scene, Phil wanted to get more involved in his industry's representation and put himself up for election to the Grammys as a Board Member. Phil became Chairman of the Advocacy committee, traveling frequently to Capitol Hill to lobby Congress on many issues, and in 2011 he was elected to the prestigious position of Vice President of the Grammys, a position that he still holds.
