Katy Perry has announced the final five dates for California Dreams 2011 World Tour. The new North American dates will all take place in November. These new dates include a stop at New York City's legendary Madison Square Garden on November 16 and wrap with a show at Staples Center in Los Angeles on November 22.
The North American leg of the tour, which kicks off tonight in Atlanta, features a rotating group of exciting openers, including Robyn, Janelle Monae, Oh Land, Jessie J and Marina & The Diamonds. DJ Skeet Skeet performs on all dates.
In other news, "Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F)," the fifth single off Katy's Grammy-nominated album Teenage Dream, goes to Pop and Rhythm radio today. "Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)" follows Katy's four No. 1 singles, "California Gurls" featuring Snoop Dogg, "Teenage Dream," "Firework," and E.T." featuring Kanye West. Last month, Katy set a historic radio play record for the highest number of plays in a single week in the history of the Nielsen BDS mainstream Top 40 survey with "E.T.", surpassing her own record set with "California Gurls." With the success of "E.T.", Katy also became the first female artist to score four No. 1 singles from the same album on Billboard's Hot 100. Teenage Dream stands as only the ninth album to log at least four No. 1's in the over 50-year history of the chart and Katy has remained in the Top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart for over a full year straight.
Last month, Katy performed "E.T." with Kanye West on American Idol and appeared on the June cover of Vanity Fair, shot by Annie Leibovitz. Katy spent the spring performing sold-out shows across Europe, Australia, New Zealand, and Japan. Throughout the California Dreams Tour, she has been interacting with fans through social media networks. Concertgoers have been able to check in to venues using Facebook Places and Deals to receive special treats, as well as submit their Tweets via the "Tweet-to-Screen," powered by social curation start-up Mass Relevance giant on-stage screens that welcome fans to each show and display live fan photos and tweets (via dedicated show hashtags), giving everyone in the audience the chance to share their thoughts, excitement, and anticipation before Katy hits the stage. A mini-version of the "Tweet-to-Screen" also appears on Katy's tour diary (http://www.katyperry.com/tour-diary) to allow any fan anywhere in the world to participate in the excitement.
In addition, Katy has partnered with Tickets-for-Charity to offer special access to some of the best seats in the house on the California Dreams Tour. A portion of the proceeds from each purchase benefit three charities that Katy has selected: Generosity Water, The Humane Society of the United States, and the Children's Health Fund. To date, her fans have raised over $150,000 in charitable donations. A limited number of premium seats benefiting these great causes are available now for select tour dates on www.ticketsforcharity.com.
