Faith Hill and The Pretenders Super Bowl Crossroads
. It is the third performance in the concert series and will air from Verizon Theatre in Grand Prairie, TX. Since forming the Pretenders over three decades ago, front woman Chrissie Hynde has proven to be a one-of-a-kind tough-minded, outspoken and an utterly uncompromising artist - yet also capable of moments of heart-wrenching tenderness. The band's first single, a cover of The Kinks song "Stop Your Sobbing," was released in January 1979 and gained critical attention. It was followed by "Kid," and then by "Brass in Pocket, "which hit #1 in the UK and reached #14 on the U.S.Billboard Hot 100. Other Pretenders hits include "Back on the Chain Gang" and "I'll Stand by You." Inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2005, the band has had many personnel changes over the years, but original members Hynde and drummer Martin Chambers remain. Additional band members are guitarist James Walbourne, pedal steel player Eric Heywood and bassist Nick Wilkinson. Hynde has recorded just nine studio albums since the original Pretenders lineup cranked out their barrier-smashing debut in 1980. Faith Hill has established herself as one of the music industry's top vocalists, with a voice that is as powerful as it is recognizable. This very special live performance will mark Hill's long awaited debut on CMT Crossroads. Her career has been highlighted by the sale of over 30 million records worldwide, during which time she has celebrated thirteen #1 singles and twenty #1 videos. In fact, 1999's BREATHE, 2002's CRY and 2005's FIREFLIES all debuted consecutively at #1 on Billboard's Top Pop Album Chart and Country Chart, making her the only female artist ever to accomplish this feat. Hill is a five-time Grammy Award winner, who has also won 3 Country Music Association Awards, 12 Academy of Country Music Awards, 4 American Music Awards, and 4 People's Choice Awards. In 2009, when Hill performed America The Beautiful at Super Bowl XLIII, she became the only country artist to ever perform both America The Beautiful and the National Anthem at the Super Bowl. She did the Anthem at Super Bowl XXXIV. For the past three years Faith has been NBC's voice for Sunday Night Football and she's performed at every major awards show including multiple appearances at The Academy Awards and The Grammy Awards. The Pretenders and Faith Hill join an elite group of performers who have taped CMT CROSSROADS, which pairs country music stars with popular artists from other genrespop, rock, R&Bto play together, swap stories, and share their common love of music. Previous episodes of CROSSROADS have included Bon Jovi and Sugarland; John Mayer and Keith Urban; Kelly Clarkson and Reba McEntire; Joss Stone and LeAnn Rimes; Robert Plant and Alison Krauss; Def Leppard and Taylor Swift; and Train and Martina McBride. Tickets to CMT CROSSROADS are sold out, but tickets still remain for the first two concerts in the seriesthe NFL SUPER BOWL FAN JAM on Thursday, Feb. 3 featuring Kid Rock, Duran Duran and Jason Der?lo.
