Smashing Pumpkins' Corgan Pulls A Hoax?

Rolling Stone tracked down an assistant to photographer Melodie McDaniel who says he is "pretty sure" the photo was shot specifically for the cover, and that Fiorentino's age makes it unlikely that she's the girl in the shot. Fiorentino would have been around 14 at the time of Siamese Dream, but Rolling Stone points out that the girls in the iconic photo look to be about seven years old. So what's the truth? Is Corgan pulling the collective legs of the entire SP fan community? One person who's not giving away anything on the matter is Fiorentino, whose sole public response to the news has been to retweet Rolling Stone's article calling Corgan's statement into question.
