Landmark Hotel Where Sid Killed Nancy Up For Sale

10/25/2010
.
(Gibson) It's the New York hotel where Sid Vicious killed girlfriend Nancy Spungen and where Bob Dylan wrote "Sad-Eyed Lady of the Lowlands."

Over the years, The Chelsea Hotel is where numerous artists including superstar musicians such as Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin and Jim Morrison spent time. And now, it's up for sale, according to Reuters.

The three families who have owned the hotel for the past 65 years have not named an asking price and are confident that the Chelsea will remain friendly to struggling artists. "The history itself makes the hotel what it is," said spokesman, Loren Riegelhaupt. "Anybody who's going to be looking to buy the Chelsea knows that the Chelsea is the Chelsea, and there's nothing you want to do to change what the Chelsea is." - more on this story
