Paul McCartney's Mull of Kintyre For Sale

(Gibson) The remote Scottish peninsula near Sir Paul McCartney's High Park farmhouse has been put up for sale for 3million ($4.7 million).

McCartney's band Wings immortalized the peninsula in the 1977 song "Mull of Kintyre," which went on to sell more than 2 million copies in the U.K. and 6 million copies worldwide.

The swath of land forms a portion of the Carskiey sporting estate, a 7,360-acre property which has been owned by the sellers for more than 40 years. It boasts nine miles of coastline, an Edwardian mansion, smaller homes and cottages, and an assortment of wildlife including deer, wild goats and eagles.

McCartney bought his neighboring farmhouse back in 1966. He credits the secluded property with saving him from an emotional and nervous breakdown due to the immense pressure of being a Beatle. Of the song "Mull of Kintyre," McCarntey once remarked, "It was a love song, really, about how I enjoyed being there and imagining I was travelling away and wanting to get back there." - more on this story
