From Darkness to a Dream Bruce Springsteen Exhibit
. Stefanko and Clinch were behind the lens of some of the most intimate and iconic portraits of Springsteen from his seminal 1978 album, Darkness on the Edge of Town to his 16th studio album released in 2009, Working on a Dream. Now for the first time, these two artists present their photography in one exhibit, providing a stunning visual narrative of a musical legend. Frank Stefanko is a fine art photographer whose work has graced the cover of numerous Springsteen albums including, Darkness on the Edge of Town, The River and The Essential Bruce Springsteen. It was his friendship and photography of a young, emerging Patti Smith in the mid-1960s which led Frank to an introduction and lasting friendship with Bruce Springsteen that has stretched over 30 years. He is the author of the book, Days of Hopes and Dreams - An Intimate Portrait of Bruce Springsteen from Billboard Book's division of Watson-Guptill, and Patti Smith, American Artist, published by Insight Editions. Stefanko's portfolio includes vintage and contemporary photographs of Patti Smith, The Rolling Stones, Rod Stewart, Janis Joplin, Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Invention, Bette Midler, and Johnny Winters among others. Danny Clinch is a photographer and film director who has established himself as one of the premier photographers of the popular music scene. He has photographed a wide range of artists, including Johnny Cash, Tupac Shakur, Bjork and the Beastie Boys. Clinch has photographed Bruce Springsteen since 1999, including portraits, live performances, rehearsals and shots from the recording studio resulting in album covers for The Rising, The Seeger Sessions, and Working on a Dream. He also directed the Grammy nominated Devils and Dust music video for Springsteen and the Grammy nominated Where the Light Is music video for John Mayer. Other video accomplishments include Willie Nelson, Tom Waits, Pearl Jam, John Legend, Melissa Etheridge, Chris Daughtry and Dave Matthews. Danny's work has appeared in publications such as Vanity Fair, Spin, Rolling Stone, GQ, Esquire, The New Yorker and The New York Times Magazine, among others.
