(Gibson) Electronic pioneers Underworld have joined the ever-increasing list of contemporary artists to write the score for a musical theater performance after being drafted to compose the music for a musical, based on Mary Shelley's classic novel Frankenstein, by director Danny Boyle.

Boyle featured Underworld's "Born Slippy" in his 1996 film Trainspotting and he also enlisted the duo Karl Hyde and Rick Smith to score his 2007 science fiction film, Sunshine.

The Frankenstein project will open in London's National Theatre in 2011 with a script written by Nick Dear. Benedict Cumberbatch and Jonny Lee Miller, another Trainspotting alumnus, will alternate in the roles of Victor Frankenstein and the monster. more on this story
