Axl Rose Leaves Guns N' Roses Fans Hanging
. Guns N' Roses played what was billed as their only North American tour date of the year on Friday but the crowd was upset after the band took to the stage after a two hour delay. Then on Sunday a post on Axl Rose's official Twitter account announced that the plug has been pulled on all future dates. The Twitter post from Sunday evening simply read, "All upcoming Guns N' Roses dates are officially cancelled. Please contact your place of purchase for any refunds." This would include the Reading and Leeds festival, Australian, UK and European dates. Blabbermouth notes that "Unlike most of Axl's previous Twitter messages, which were posted using an iPhone, this one came via the "mobile web," suggesting that Rose's Twitter account could have been hacked.***" more. As of early Monday morning, all dates still remained on the Guns N' Roses official website and Myspace page (which showed the last login on August 3rd). If the cancelation notice is legit it may be a result of some of the complaints about Friday's headlining appearance at Sturgis Bike Rally's Rock 'N Rev Festival in Sturgis, South Dakota. Guns N' Roses took two hours to take the stage after Alice in Chains completed their set at 11:00PM. Rapid City Journal spoke with Dan Catullo, one of the festival's founders, and learned that Axl wasn't the blame for the delay. Catullo them that a technical glitch that took longer than expected to fix caused Guns N' Roses' set to begin at 12:50 a.m. Saturday around an hour and 20 minutes later than scheduled. more Update: Blabbermouth's suspicion was apparently well founded as the organizers of the Reading and Leeds festival issued the following statement early Monday morning: "Festival Republic are informed by GN'R management that Guns N' Roses have NOT canceled their performances at Reading & Leeds and that Axl Rose's twitter account was hacked into and all claims of dates being cancelled are unfounded."
