In New Jersey, everyone seems to be in a metal or hardcore band. Too often, bands take the easy way out and simply mimic the sound of the most recent trends. Bands few and far between attempt to transgress the expectations of what metal and hardcore acts are expected to sound like. Described as "the band to take over" and "the sound of 2010" by James Gill and Terry Beezer of Metal Hammer Magazine, CHAMBERS is a metallic hardcore wrecking ball on a mission to destroy expectations. Always willing to set a fire and fan the flames, CHAMBERS' debut album, "OLD LOVE" is poised for a new blend of aggression and is "not for the faint hearted." CHAMBERS started with longtime musical collaborators Vincent Fiore (Drums) and Gregg Kautz (Guitar). Gregg's love for 70s rock meshed well with Vincent's aggressive, pulse driven style. "It's something that I was bred by and can be much accredited to drummers like Mitch Mitchell and Dave Grohl," says Fiore. "I learned to play drums by ear, and many of their recordings gave me the basis of my style today." Gregg and Vincent had worked together on a number of previous projects, but always felt they weren't quite grasping the sound and energy they desired. While searching for a new spark, the two stumbled upon John Pinho, an old friend of Gregg's. Pinho had a totally different approach to guitar, which garnered the trio a fresh direction in writing. They then rounded out the rhythm section with Jesse Mariani on bass. The quartet began collaborating on ideas while searching for their monster front man. Dan Pelic, a new friend of Pinho's, quickly heard of the open position through the guitarist's posting on a local music message board and agreed to see what they could make happen together. After hammering out their first self-recorded demo, the band planned a mid-July 2009 debut performance in Pelic's New Brunswick, NJ house basement. Pelic had already secured the UK punk rock outfit, Warner Brothers recording artists, GALLOWS, to headline the gig. It seemed like a fitting act to open up for. CHAMBERS played their first gig to over 150 sweaty show goers packed into a 110-degree basement. Their live set was highly lauded by both the audience and GALLOWS. The UK band spread the CHAMBERS "Earthquake Sessions" demo upon their return back home, leading to national radio and print press by NME and Metal Hammer. As they continued playing shows in New Jersey, CHAMBERS began to notice attendance increasing at their gigs and an even bigger buzz on the web. Soon after, they decided to take a break from playing out and began writing their first full-length record. During the writing process, the band's sound progressed to become still more ruthless and aggressive. They focused on pounding home the feeling and message in their compositions, expressing themes ranging among lust, isolation, spiritual struggle, and love lost. CHAMBERS' ideas rejected the typical boundaries of metal and hardcore and refused to let their violent blend of rock n' roll be molded by stereotypes of either genre. With the positive development of new material, the band headed to Treehouse Sound in Jersey City, NJ in late-November 2009. The mission at hand was to "capture the passion and sheer aggression that we express at one of our live performances," says Fiore. "We went in not knowing how we would translate our dirty demos into a more polished recording. After five months of hard work, I can honestly say that this record captured the message we are trying to get across. I love the fact that it doesn't sound like a majority of today's over-produced mall metal. We are trying to touch upon something different and hope people can find a release from the monotony of today's cookie cutter melodiesand haircuts." The band recently finished mixing and mastering "OLD LOVE" at Treehouse Sound with producer/mixing engineer, Jayson "Michael" Dezuzio (Suicide Silence, Cobra Starship, Foxy Shazam), producer, Wes Kleinknecht, and mastering engineer, Walter Dicristina.
