Lindsay Lohan Child Trafficking Film Doesn't Go Far Enough?
. Lohan posted on Twitter: "it's a massive world issue, & it goes on everyday. i just want people to recognize the more important things in the world-rather than gossip" and "my documentary for the BBC network is coming out soon...It's about child trafficking in India...I'd like to encourage everyone to watch it!!" Indo-American statesman Rajan Zed, in a statement in Nevada (USA) today, said that one hurried run through India by Lohan would not solve the massive and worldwide problem of child trafficking. She needed to focus her energies and create a world-level program to undertake this important project if it was close to her heart, Zed, who is chairperson of Indo-American Leadership Confederation, added. "Lindsay Lohan's Indian Journey" focusing on child trafficking will broadcast under Current Affairs program at BBC Three on April one at nine pm. BBC promo says: "As the capital Delhi prepares to host the Commonwealth Games, she talks to young boys just rescued from factories in the slums. When she learns that many have been sent away with traffickers by their own parents, Lindsay sets off to find out why. In West Bengal, parents, child victims, and a former trafficker share their stories and reveal the desperate poverty which fuels this cruel trade in children. As India's economy is booming, Lindsay asks what can be done to stop this abuse." Rajan Zed also urged Central and State governments in India to take immediate steps to put an end to child trafficking. Why should a Lindsay Lohan had to travel from Hollywood to Sundarbans to wake them up about issues in their own backyard, Zed asked. Lindsay Dee Lohan, 23, is an MTV Award winner American actress-singer-model who has topped Maxim's "Hot 100". Headquartered in London, BBC is the largest broadcasting corporation in the world whose mission is to enrich people's lives with programs that inform, educate and entertain. Mark Thompson is Director-General of BBC while Danny Cohen is controller of BBC Three whose tagline is "Never afraid to try new stuff" and which claims to be "only digital channel to tackle serious issues for young viewers". Note: Normally we avoid anything remotely political but Rajan Zed has a valid point that child trafficking is a global issue including one within the United States, despite federal laws outlawing the practice. The U.S. Department of Education states "Contrary to a common assumption, human trafficking is not just a problem in other countries. Cases of human trafficking have been reported in all 50 states, Washington D.C., and some U.S. territories. Victims of human trafficking can be children or adults, U.S. citizens or foreign nationals, male or female."
