Peta Vs DMX

(PR) PETA sent an urgent plea to Maricopa County Attorney Andrew P. Thomas urging his office to vigorously prosecute rapper Earl Simmons, also known as DMX. In August, authorities discovered 12 reportedly neglected, malnourished, and scarred pit bulls on Simmons' property as well as the remains of three dogsone of whom might have been burned. Simmons has been indicted on seven charges of cruelty to animals and other felonies. In 2002, Simmons pleaded guilty to charges related to 13 caged and neglected pit bulls on his New Jersey property.

In an action alert on its popular Web site, PETA urges visitors to contact Thomas and demand that Simmons is prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. "Simmons appears to be either unable or unwilling to provide even the most basic care for animals," says PETA cruelty caseworker Peter Wood. "People who demonstrate such blatant disregard for life and desensitization to suffering can pose a serious risk to all animalsincluding humanswith whom they come into contact."

PETA is asking thatif convicted and in addition to serving a period of incarcerationSimmons be prohibited from owning or harboring animals and that he be required to undergo a thorough psychological evaluation followed by mandatory counseling. - read their alert
