Guns N' Roses Leaker Facing 100K Fine and Year In Jail

(Metal Underground) Los Angeles resident Kevin Cogill is to be sentenced to up to a year in prison and a $100,000 fine following his illegal upload of Guns N' Roses' latest album.

Cogill uploaded nine new tracks from Guns N' Roses album Chinese Democracy - over four months prior to the album's official release in November.

"I think the internet affords a level of anonymity to people that lulls them into believing that what they are doing is either not criminal or beyond the reach of the law," US attorney Craig Missakian said on the sentencing. "But that's certainly not the case." - more on this story
