(Capitol) Capitol Records rock band Morningwood (Chantal Claret, Pedro Yanowitz), much-admired champions and torchbearers of the downtown New York scene, are returning with a new four-track digital EP to be released on August 12, 2008. The long awaited release will please fans including Alternative Press who included the group in their "Most Anticipated Releases of 2008" issue earlier this year.

Recently described by vocalist/writer Claret as having an eclectic sound with flavors of the band's many influences, EP tracks will include the all-out, crunchingly aggressive single, "Sugarbaby;" the hellzapoppin', tempo-shifting "That's How You Know It's Love," the seductive "Best of Me," and an anthemic "Killer Life." The hilarious upcoming video for "Sugarbaby" features a puppet crafted to the likeness of Claret by James W. Wojtal Jr., who has worked in the Jim Henson Studio and with the Broadway smash Avenue Q. MTV will premiere the video during their highly rated primetime show FN MTV this Friday, August 8th. The band will also be performing the single on The Late Show with David Letterman on September 24th.

Morningwood will once again start playing live shows with an upcoming slot at BUST Magazine's 15-year anniversary celebration, held August 12th in the unique 1920s-built Spiegeltent, located on Pier 17 at Manhattan's South Street Seaport.

Morningwood's first self-titled Capitol album was a Billboard Heatseekers No. 1 at its release in 2006 and received critical acclaim from publications including Blender, Paper, Giant, Nylon, Playboy and countless others and landed the band on The Late Show with David Letterman, The Tonight Show, Last Call with Carson Daly and Jimmy Kimmel Live. The single "N.Y. Girls" is featured in the soundtrack of the 2008 No. 1 box-office smash film comedy Sex and the City.
