(PR) Three of modern rocks greatest frontmen and songwriters contribute provocative new music to the soundtrack of the upcoming film BUG, a gripping psychological thriller directed by the legendary William Friedkin (The Exorcist, The French Connection, To Live and Die in L.A.).

New music by Velvet Revolvers Scott Weiland and System of a Downs Serj Tankian are highlights of the soundtrack, along with evocative music by Sean and Sara Watkins of Nickel Creek, Susan Tedeschi, and Chainsaw Kittens. The all-star assemblage of songs was conceived to reflect and deepen the dark, intense and complex atmosphere of the film, according to Lionsgate President of Music and Publishing Jay Faires, who served as music supervisor. Lionsgate will release the soundtrack CD on May 22, 2007, through SonyBMGs RED distribution, and the film itself is scheduled for wide release on May 25th.

Beautiful Day, a thought-provoking and melodic collaboration between Scott Weiland and Douglas Green, kicks off the soundtrack album and will be its first music video, directed by Friedkin. Serj Tankian contributes the films haunting theme music, closing the soundtrack CD -- a surprising and smashingly successful creative step for one of rocks heaviest lead singers. The ballad Disappearing Act, by Chris Cornell (Soundgarden, Audioslave, Casino Royale theme), accompanies the films closing credits (although it does not appear in the compilation soundtrack line-up).
