Nation of a-holes

(PR) Prior to the forthcoming release of This Moment In Black History's musically and lyrically hard-hitting landmark album It Takes A Nation (of a-holes to Hold Us Back) a diverse assortment of press -- including VIBE and Alternative Press -- has elicited praise for the group's latest work. The forthcoming Cold Sweat Records debut (the band's second album) throws down the gauntlet in all aspects, from the challenging and gutsy references of the title to Steve Albini's fierce-sounding production. VIBE magazine praises the album in its forthcoming issue and Alternative Press weighs in with a four star rating.

Consistent with the trailblazing musical innovators of its Ohio home (Devo, Pere Ubu, The Cramps, et al), This Moment In Black History is poised to take position amongst the lineage of such legends with its inflammatory sophomore album. The Cleveland quartet's music was once humorously described as "James Brown being violently hijacked by Gang of Four." However, This Moment in Black History's sound is more accurately described as a potent mixture of classic punk guitars and an intense vocal delivery punctuated by (in the band's terms) the "blackest" rhythm section in today's current underground scene. The band musically traverses territories blazed by Bad Brains, The Monorchid and Pere Ubu, while its lyrics challenge social and political norms with the wit and insight of Black Flag or Public Enemy. [of course the press release doesn't mention a release date]
