(Kayos) Eagle Rock Entertainment, through its wholly-owned Eagle Vision imprint, announces the next title of its lauded Classic Albums series with an in-depth look behind-the-scenes at the recording of Queens first platinum album: 1975s A Night At The Opera. This is the album that catapulted singer Freddy Mercury, guitarist Brian May, drummer Roger Taylor and bassist John Deacon into the upper echelon of the international rock community, spawning the #1 (for nine straight weeks) British hit single Bohemian Rhapsody. Queen would ultimately record 14 studio albums between 1973 and 1990.
Produced with the help and cooperation of May and Taylor (Mercury succumbed to AIDS in 1991; Deacon retired in 1992), the DVD contains an exhaustive cut by cut run through of all 12 tracks, new interviews with May, Deacon and producer Roy Thomas Baker, archival performance footage, interviews with Mercury, and comments from such rock luminaries as Aerosmiths Joe Perry, Extremes Nuno Bettencourt and Mott The Hooples Ian Hunter, among others. It also features brand new acoustic performances of 39 and Love Of My Life by May, and a special drum and acoustic demonstration of Im In Love With My Car by Taylor.
The Classic Albums DVD series has, in its decade-long existence, cross-referenced a wide spectrum of international rock music from The Band, Goodbye Yellow Brick Road and Never Mind The Bollocks Heres The Sex Pistols to Dark Side Of The Moon, Metallica, Rumors, Electric Ladyland, Nevermind and Graceland.
Filled with revelations, acoustic performances made just for the occasion, archival concert footage and insightful analysis, Classic Albums goes beyond the standard in-depth behind-the-scenes documentary, and, in so doing, has created its own art form.
Youve been behind the music, read the dirt, seen the concertsnow experience what it takes, and meet whos involved, in the making of a Classic Album.
