30,000 fans went to the Festimad with the intention of rocking and literally got rocked by a deluge of dust and debris carried by high winds which reached 60 mph. We received a report from the System camp that a couple hours before the band were to take the stage for their headlining performance the winds literally brought the metal and canvas roof down on the outdoor stage.
The band's publicist tells antiMusic what happened next, "The promoters stopped the show and wanted to cancel the rest of the concert - they somehow were able to safely remove the damaged roof, while the more than 30,000 kids - still out in these monstrous blowing winds - chanted over and over and over 'We want System to play...we want System to play.'"
The fans were not to be disappointed, "..at about 3:45AM, System finally took the stage and played until well after 5AM." Despite the weather and the late hour the 30,000 fans stayed until the small hours of the morning to witness System brave the weather and deliver their show. Now that's rock n roll!
