Apparently that was all a big mistake. According to MSNBC, Axl's attorney, Howard Weitzman, says that it was a clerical error on the part of ASCAP. Axl apparently instructed them to send only his portion to his publishing company but they sent the whole lot. MSNBC reports that Weitzman said that Axl has since returned the extra money to ASCAP.
