Larry Wachs and Eric Von Haessler a.k.a. the Regular Guys join Howard Stern and Tampa, Floridas Bubba the Love Sponge as targets in the recent FCC crusade against indecency and Clear Channel Communications efforts to comply.
Clear Channel felt that sting last week when the FCC proposed a $495,000 fine because of two separate incidents on one Howard Stern broadcast from over a year ago.
Clear Channel regional vice president Pat McDonnell issued a statement explaining why the Regular Guys got the axe. "In line with our zero-tolerance policy and after conducting a thorough investigation of a March 19 broadcast on WKLS-FM, we have decided we will no longer broadcast the 'The Regular Guys".
The Regular Guys got into hot water by
mocking the very crackdown that cost them their jobs. The plan was to air
a backwards recording of porn star Devinn Lane talking dirty for a segment
they called backward smut. But something went wrong and a microphone
was accidentally left open and the porn star could be heard talking dirty
while a car advertisement was being broadcast.
