Spears is in talks with the ABC Family channel to produce a made-for-TV movie based on the book she co-authored with her mother.
The Hollywood Reporter says that Spears is close to inking a deal to executive produce the movie. The film is scheduled to begin production early next year in Toronto with an eye towards hitting the airwaves in April.
The film has not yet been named and no casting decisions have been made, including whether Spears will appear in the film or not.
The script is based on the 2001 semi-autobiographic book Gift that Spears co-authored with her mother Lynne Spears. The story revolves around an aspiring teenage pop singer from the south that travels to the big city in hopes of making it big.
The elder Spears is reportedly already on board as an executive producer for the film.
