The poll results were released on Wednesday, giving Oprah a nice Christmas present. Winfrey has dominated the list over the past five years. She was voted favorite TV personality last year as well as in 2000 and 1998.
The poll began in 1993 and since then Winfrey has consistently made the top three. This year the top five consists of late night talk show host David Letterman (2), Fox News� leading talk show host Bill O�Reilly (3), sitcom star Ray Romano (4) and Tonight Show host Jay Leno.
Network News personalities suffered a huge set back in 2003. The three people to drop out of the Top 10 were all Network News personalities; Katie Couric (#4 in 2002), Tom Brokaw (was #8) and Dan Rather (was #10).
The Harris Poll was conducted online from Nov. 17 to Nov. 23. 2,376 adults in the United States were polled. According to Harris Interactive, �figures for age, sex, race, education and number of adults in the household were weighted where necessary to bring them into line with their actual proportions in the population.�
