with Machine Head By Rachael Reardon
Machine Head - Hellalive This is Machine Heads first live album, and from a band that has pretty much built a career on our live reputation, Hellalive delivers the golden goods on a silver platter. Compared to the majority of live albums, which are generally s***, Hellalive has an impressing striking sound, and unlike most, you feel like youre right at the front of the crowd, rather than at the very back, getting s*** faced to console yourself. Recorded at Brixton Academy, London December 8th 2001, Hellalive is raw and uncut, featuring unforgettable moments from 99s Burning Red via the bewitchingly melodic onslaught The Blood, The Sweat, The Tears and the stop start droning riffs of From This Day. Going as early back as 94s Burn My Eyes, (This is Olllllldd!!! bellows the charismatic Rob Flynn), Hellalive covers parts of all four full-length Machine Head albums, capturing each essence and entity of the structure of this band. In fact a band, whom when you listen to their mixture in sound across the years, its not difficult to see the amount of influence they have had on other more recent bands, such as early Slipknot, Stone sour and Disturbed. The sound of these bands compared to the almighty Machine Head, is almost too obvious, and you kind feel a bit sorry for the band and all the s*** they have gotten, (for example from Slayers Kerry King who accused them of the start of rap-metal - Flynn soon shot back with the fact that King had only just rocked his little socks off with pop punk disgrace Sum41), and perhaps that this band should be given a lot more credit, considering how much they have put into the present-day metal scene. Check out prime track - The Burning Red with its eerie guitar melodies and drowsy beats, intertwined with Flynns soft, comforting harmonies. A compilation, live bible for die-hard Machine Head fans, and a more than accurate introduction for any non-believers. /font>
