Orgy - Trans Global Spectacle DVD Review by Tim Ferrell "Most of our fans have only seen us onstage, in videos and in magazines, but this is the real us." So says Orgy drummer Bobby Hewitt about Orgy's first DVD, Trans Global Spectacle. The DVD chronicles the band's exploits dating back to 1997 and was compiled from over 50 hours of raw footage shot mostly by the band themselves. It seems fashionable nowadays for every band to release a DVD at some point and many are, shall we say, less than exciting. This is much more than a standard video compilation - although you will find videos for "Blue Monday", "Stitches", "Fiction (Dreams In Digital)", and "Vague" included - or a weak live DVD - yes, there are several live clips and some great studio footage but this DVD, however, is something else as well... Aside from Lamb Of God's excellent Killadelphia DVD, I have not found myself enjoying a music DVD as much in quite some time. Okay - brace yourself... There is a *lot* of footage of the band behind the scenes. I mean it - a *ton*!! Some of it is funny (well, a lot of it) and some of it is plain silly or stupid. There is a liberal helping of sophomoric pranks and crude behavior and several colorful characters outside of the band that make for some interesting situations. You get to see the guys at their best and worst - cranked up and jamming to worn out and sick. In short this is a true portrait of a modern band on the run with all of the highs and lows that go along with it. Vary interesting and enjoyable... This is a 'must have' for any Orgy fan or anyone interested in the life behind the scenes of a crazy touring band. Cool Features: "Stitches" video, Church eats a scorpion, studio
