In 1990, God Dethroned was formed by Henri Sattler, and soon released the album "Christhunt". They soon broke up after problems with the label and Henri went to a new band. Then he reformed God Dethroned and released another album in 1997 on Metal Blade records. Now almost a decade later and six albums behind them................ God Dethroned is back with a more intense
and extreme album, "The Lair Of The White Worm" is filled with heavier
melodies, more leads, and brutal and imaginative themes. The title itself
came from an obscure Bram Stoker book of the same name, which spawned a
cheesy horror flick in the 80's. With the addition of new bass player Henk
Zinger two months before the recording, and new guitar player Isaac Delahaye
two weeks before the recording, the album took a heavier turn from the
previous "Into The Lungs Of Hell" also on Metal Blade records. The leads
alone have been upped from five on the last
This album takes you to a range of places with songs like "Sigma Enigma" which talks about corruption, or "Arch Enemy of Spain" which details a Spanish war, "Rusty Nails" tells the story of the crucifixion of Jesus, and the title track "The Lair of the White Worm" which sums up the whole story in the length of a song. And songs like "Nihilism" are full of brutality and anger boasting the lyrics "extinction of the human race is on my mind". With over ten years under their belt you couldn't expect anything less than greatness, and that is exactly what this album is. So check it out, crank it up, and destroy your eardrums. This album is definitely worth the money, and more than worth a listen.
