![]() Motorhead - Stage Fright DVD Review"Everything louder than everything else." That's been a rallying cry for Motorhead for well over 20 years and that certainly applies here. On the band's new double-disc DVD, we're reminded that the band is still the owner of the title, "world's loudest band". But that's not all we're reminded of. One viewing of the German concert from last year's European tour shows us that we often forget the British stalwarts are a pretty good rock and roll band. This is a terrific package that has a lot to it. There is the aforementioned concert which contains all of the band's staples like "Ace of Spades" and "Overkill". There is the tribute to Lemmy's friends, the Ramones and the acoustic (featuring Mickkey Dee on guitar) "Whorehouse Blues". But my favourite part is the commentary from the band watching the entire concert in a separate section. Lemmy, Phil and Mikkey are all situated in front of a TV, facing the camera and every minute or two give their thoughts of the performance. Strangely, Lemmy is quite quiet throughout, mostly just responding to comments from the loquacious Mikkey Dee and the odd one from Phil Campbell. Disc 2 contains a pile of great stuff including in-depth interviews with most of the principal road crew, some of which have been with the band for over 30 years. Most interviewed said they would probably still be with the band in ten years time --- goes to show what a family-type connection these people have with their employees. There's some quite interesting parts that show the construction of the set and sound stages. Also included is a fan section with comments from the band's legion of followers, as well as celebrity well-wishers. There is a ringer for a mobile phone, wallpapers for your PC, discography and a slide show. There's even the rider for the band that's given to promoters. A very, very nice package for fans and newbies alike. Well worth the money. Motorhead is not my favourite band in the world but I loved this package. I'll be digging out my "No Sleep til Hammersmith" CD now.
