Gwar
- War Party
If you don't know who GWAR is, you should. Before it was widely accepted by metal bands to wear makeup or use stage costumes, GWAR was putting more effort into their look than any band even now. They even have a story to go with the look, do some research if you're curious. Years later the only thing that changed is they get harder as they progress. The 2001 album "Violence Has Arrived" was one of the best GWAR albums to date, However "War Party" could easily beat it. It all kicks off with "Bring Back The Bomb",
an all out call for nuclear war that jumps in your face and refuses to
leave for the rest of the CD. Track 3 "Womb With A Veiw" displays Dave
Brockie's (or Oderus depending on when you talk to him) sick sense of humor,
and the CD comes with a video for it if you put it in your computer. Track
9 "The Bonus Plan" is in French, which is off-putting at first but
if you're not really listening to the lyrics as much as you are the music,
it's all good. Over all "War Party" is a must have for any GWAR fan or
any metal fan at all. So check it out, it's worth the money and more than
worth a listen.
