It's Christmas time and you can tell by the wave of CD's put out just for this time of year. Surprisingly I've come across one that doesn't suck. Favored Nations (founded by Steve Vai) has released a Christmas album featuring Andy Timmons - Greensleeves, The Dillengers - Run Rudolf Run, and Marty Friedman - Meditation From Thais. It's not all "classic" Christmas songs like Jingle Bells, or Winter Wonderland (which are on this album), but there are some originals like We Pray Sanctus by Peppino D'Agostino, and The 25th Day by Pete Huttlinger. In addition to all that, some of the songs
were done completely by a single artist. Adrian Legg played every instrument
on Jingle Bells, Greg Koch plays every instrument on God Rest Ye Merry
Gentlemen, and Marty Friedman (from Megadeth if you didn't already know,
but I'm sure you did) plays every instrument on Meditation From Thais.
I know many people are multi-talented and could do the same, but it's note
worthy coming from a major label who could easily call in a slew of pros
to help out. So be sure to get this one, after all it's Christmas time.
