Did Courtney Ruin Nirvana? |
In his book, "Bumping Into Geniuses: My Life Inside the Rock and Roll Business", former record label exec and artist manager Danny Goldberg writes, "Courtney's very presence was a metaphor for the end of one era in the band's life and the beginning of another," adding that Love became Cobain's "mouthpiece" shortly after the two became a couple.
Goldberg says he was initially "charmed" by Love, but soon became aware that she had "numerous personae she could call up at will, and this would be the last time I would ever see Courtney as an underdog."

Hope they think the cents they get from this asinine policy is worth the dollars they lose because of you!)

MTV's PR hacks are full of sh*t! We all should know this but last week they hyped the fact that lipsyncing poptart Britney Spears would open this year's VMAs "setting the tone for a night of can't miss moments." Can't miss moments? Bullsh*t! What viewers got instead was "Thank you so much. Thank you for all the love. I'm here tonight to celebrate a very important birthday, the 25th anniversary of the VMAs. This is the 2008 MTV Video Music Awards and it starts right now." In a way this fits as this year's VMA picks are about as uninspiring as Brit's comments. What's funnier is the mainstream press making a big deal out of this appearance. If you have some minutes to kill and actually care to read more, Reuters has a report

Metallica and Politics Don't Mix |
Here is part of the Blabbermouth report following by a link to the full interview: "Part of me is proud is because they chose Metallica," Hetfield said about the reports that the band's song "Enter Sandman" was used during the interrogation of Mohammed al-Qahtani known as the 20th [9/11] hijacker and that listening to the track brought al-Qahtani to tears "because he thought he was hearing the sound of Satan."
James added, "It's strong; it's music that's powerful. It represents something that they don't like maybe freedom, aggression I don't know freedom of speech. And then part of me is kind of bummed about it that people worry about us being attached to some political statement because of that. We've got nothing to do with this and we're trying to be as apolitical as possible, 'cause I think politics and music, at least for us, don't mix. It separates people, [and] we wanna bring people together. So, so be it. I can't say 'Stop.' I can't say 'Do it.' It is just a thing it's not good or bad."

Speaking at a Toronto film festival press conference where he was promoting the documentary film "It Might Get Loud", Page said, "We're not actually really recording. We played at the O2 (concert in London last year). That was our reunion. It's nothing as monumental as what people are speculating and projecting."
He added, "If you're going to do a reunion, you need four members," referring to lead singer Robert Plant's commitment to touring with U.S. country singer Alison Krauss.

The new single, "Indestructible", (out on October 6th) the title track from the album, is a blistering ball of metal goodness. Taken from their US number one album (as well as being No1 in Canada, Australia and New Zealand and as already racked up worldwide sales of 1 million) of the same name, the band set out to make an "all killer, no filler" gutsy metal record and they achieved that in droves.

The band's story begins in 1986, in a time when pop glitz or American glam metal reigned the European music scene. Back then industrial metal was just starting to grow, however the genre's turning point was close - groups such as Skinny Puppy and Front 242 begun aggressively marking their presence on the scene. You might say that Treponem Pal emerged in a time that was groundbreaking for the genre - for it was 1988 when Ministry's "Land of Rape and Honey" was released.

We know you are anxious to hear what Head's new music sounds like, so you can grab previews from "Save Me From Myself," learn more about the album and Head's new autobiography and more right
