Green Day Plagiarist?

(punkbands) Paul McPike, a 32 year old grocery store clerk has filed a copyright infringement complaint in a U.S. district court where he claims, according to Oregon's Mail Tribune, "he composed both the lyrics and melodies" of Green Day's hit album, American Idiot in early 1992. A magistrate judge moved to dismiss the complaint after McPike, who's representing himself, could only produce as evidence a copy of Green Day's album and his claim that "the words lead singer Billie Joe Armstrong sings don't exactly match those printed on the album's cover."

According to the article, McPike "theorizes that a friend must have recorded a cassette of him singing at home and somehow that recording reached Green Day." He says he sung the song for classmates at an alternative school back in 1992.[see full story for more] - Click here for the Full Story
