Prince Vs Racism?
AP reports: Prince, now a Jehovah's witness,
has toned down his mojo, but the Purple One can still pack a political
punch. His new music video, "Cinnamon Girl," is a big-budget production
that follows the hardships and confusions of a teenage Arab-American girl
in a post 9-11 America.
It stars Keisha Castle-Hughes ("Whale Rider") who concludes the video by imagining herself detonating a bomb in a crowded airport terminal.
...Following an airplane crash, presumably 9-11, Castle-Hughes is beset by racism and prejudice because of her Arab ethnicity. After being chased by her schoolmates, she watches Arabic storefront signs be replaced with English ones and is chided by her more traditionally Islamic parents. Eminem Censored
New York Times reports: Responding to
complaints from Michael Jackson's camp, the BET cable channel on Tuesday
removed the controversial video for Eminem's new single, "Just Lose It,"
from its broadcast mix.
The video, which began running on BET and other music channels last Tuesday, directs pointed jabs at Mr. Jackson.
The most controversial moment is at the end. Eminem, dressed as Mr. Jackson, is sitting on the edge of a king-size bed covered with red satin sheets. A group of young boys dressed in their pajamas gleefully jump around behind him. [see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story
Supreme Court Denies RIAA
Variety reports: The U.S. Supreme Court
let stand a lower court ruling that barred recording companies from using
an expedited process to force Internet service providers to reveal the
names of alleged file-sharers.
Tuesday's ruling forces the Recording Industry Assn. of America to use the more cumbersome and costly procedure of filing anonymous "John Doe" lawsuits and then seeking individual court orders to uncover the defendants' true identities. [see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story

distinctive blend of sonorous saxophone, bass and deep grooves that, along

much of Sandman's work was never commercially released and remains unheard

Ray Soundtrack
press release (special ops) reports: Born
in a poor town in Georgia, Ray Charles went blind at the age of seven,
shortly after witnessing his younger brother's accidental death. Inspired
by a fiercely independent mother who insisted he make his own way in the
world, Charles found his calling and his gift behind a piano keyboard.
Touring across the Southern musical circuit, the soulful singer gained
a reputation and then exploded with worldwide fame when he pioneered incorporating
gospel, country, jazz and orchestral influences into his inimitable style.
As he revolutionized the way people appreciated music, he simultaneously fought segregation in the very clubs that launched him and championed artists' rights within the corporate music business. Ray provides an unflinching portrait of Charles' musical genius as he overcomes drug addiction while transforming into one of this country's most beloved performers.
As music plays a substantial role in this film, we are also proud to disseminate information on the film's soundtrack. Featuring 17 of Ray Charles' classics, the limited-edition package includes a bonus DVD with four performance clips by star Jamie Foxx as Ray Charles. [see full story for a full soundtrack listening party! The film will be released on October 29th and people are already buzzing about Jamie Foxx's chance at an Oscar]- Click Here for the Full Story
